When you step back and think about it, there is a lot that goes into traveling to a different country. Besides the obvious fact that you are boarding a plane that will fly thousands of feet into the air (which has its own set of technicalities), you also must remember the paperwork and application processes that came beforehand.
This week I applied for my passport, and although this was not the most glamorous or interesting process, I still found it rather interesting. The amount of paperwork and preparation, as well as processing that goes into creating these things, is absolutely amazing. From the first few steps where you have your pictures taken to the last few where you have it notarized, it truly goes without saying that there is an intricate process behind each and every one of these applications.
On top of this (as if all of this was not enough), there are hundreds if not thousands of these things being processed and vetted in the United States on a daily basis. The government is responsible for making sure that each and every one of these passports goes through the system without error, and I think that it truly goes to show just how intricate this system really is.
