Visiting Bao Xiang
Last Saturday we had the chance to Visit the temple of Bao Xiang, one of the largest temples within the Yunnan province. Having a great importance to the local Bai people (the pro dominant ethnic group in the area) in many of their holidays, the temple is always well kept and visited. This is especially true when the temple hosts its “valentines” traditions in mid August where local peoples would travel to the mountains to find suitors to start a family.
Situated in the mountains, the temple itself is built into the cliff side of the mountain. Though this may seem odd or even impractical for the locals who visit, it plays into the favor of the local monkeys who inhabit the temple and the grounds itself.
The mountain itself was one of the most beautiful that I have ever visited, even in China. Pictures of my trip will be posted on the Facebook page for delivering hope due to technological limitations.
